The DELF-DALF

delf-dalf

The DELF-DALF is the main exam for French as a foreign language worldwide. It was created by the French Ministry of Education and is based on the European Framework for Languages. We have two sessions per year and 6 different levels. It is a great asset for your CV and a good way to keep your motivation for learning French.

All our courses at AF are designed to naturally prepare students for the DELF/DALF exams and most of our teachers are official examiners for these exams.

At the moment we offer:

- the DELF Prim’: for children between 8 and 12 yrs old. It is the first language diploma for children that testify their proficiency in French! No need to be fluent, several terms of classes at AF prepare for the first level of the diploma.

- the DELF Junior: for teenagers between 13 and 18 yrs old. There is no direct equivalence between NCEA and DELF Junior examinations as the test themselves are very different; Though the DELF Junior is recognised all over the world and is the official gateway to many French universities.

- the DELF Tous Publics: for adults over 18yrs old.

All 3 versions of the DELF test the 4 skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing: and all 3 are valid for life and recognised all over the world. There is no difference in terms of linguistics expectations between the version, the format and the contents of the exercises are simply modified to suit better teenagers and children.

We strongly encourage all our students at AF to sit the DELF exam since our experience has proved that all students preparing it made tremendous progress. It gives them a short-term goal to reach, encourage their motivation and help them amazingly in their process of learning the French language.

In addition of our regular classes we run preparation workshops

* Every Monday, 6-8pm during term 1 and 3.

First and Third Monday of the month: level A1-A2

Second and Fourth Monday of the month: level B1-B2

* April 25th-April29th: Intensive Week of preparation

For the highest levels of proficiency/mastery (level C1-C2), preparation workshops are organised on demand. Our regular Proficiency 2 class prepares students for level C1.
