The Alliance Française de Christchurch offers classes for children from the age of one (with a carer) onwards. Your child will have the chance to be exposed to the French language through nursery rhythms, songs, stories and playing with a native speaker.

The class Boutchoux 1 has lots of songs such as “Meunier tu dors”, “Vive le vent”, dancing in a circle such as “Savez-vous planter les choux” and “ J’ai des pommes à vendre », and also stories like the « Le petit pompier » which encourage children to learn the parts of the body.

The artistic side of children is also stimulated by means of drawings, for example when they have to draw the things that one finds in the house. The children also have the chance to colour in the documents that have been given to them both in the class and when they get home.


With the Boutchoux 2 class, we learn to say "bonjour", to reply to the question "ça va?", to talk about the weather, to play with colours, and to count up to twenty …

The Boutchoux 2 class has as many songs as “Meunier tu dors”, “Vive le vent”, dancing in a circle as in “Savez-vous planter les choux” and also stories like “ Le petit pompier”, which encourage the children to learn about the parts of the body and about moving in space, “le loup-garou” a short amusing story which will stimulate curiosity and teach them the names of items of clothing …

One gets enjoyment from learning by means of card games about food and animals, using posters showing farm animals … On the black board we will draw things that you find in the house, such as clothing …
