Advanced Adults
Who are you?
• You have learnt French up to high school level and you can read the newspapers and literary works without problem?
• You have lived in France or with French people long enough to express yourself confidently on a large range of subjects?
• You have good reading and writing abilities but would like to improve your oral skills to continue to discover what the French language and culture have to offer.
The classes
There are 3 levels of advanced classes, from Advanced 1 to Advanced 3, thus 6 terms to complete the whole level. Each session is 40 hours long, organised over 20 weeks of classes (2 terms). Classes are 2 hours long and they take place in the evening from 6.00 to 8.00pm (possible daytime classes depending on enrolments). Each 20 hours session is $200. The books used are Connexions 1 ($65 for the set + exercises book).
You will meet people who, just like you, want to share ideas and experiences, update their French knowledge and to learn through the subjects and activities chosen by the professor.
What you learn Classes of advanced level are of course less oriented towards the learning of grammar even though it is often necessary to come back to points already known by the majority of the students. This is part of the consolidation but it is often explored from a communication, reformulation and extrapolation perspective
We use “Connexions 3” that you can buy at the Alliance Française for $65.
Advanced level
You will learn more about France, the French speaking world and the French way of life thanks to genuine documents. You will develop both your written and spoken skills through articles, ads, literature, interviews…
All this while using new and more accurate vocabulary. You will use the language fluently and confidently, developing writing styles and oral skills through discussions and debates on a variety of topics; current events, television news, newspapers and magazines.
